The most relevant and comprehensive study comparing lipofilling (surgical fat transfer method) and Macrolane branded Hyaluronic acid is the 2013 study found in the reviews section “Use of Macrolane VRF 30 [Hyaluronic Acid] in emicircumferential penis enlargement.”

The authors retrospectively reviewed the results of 83 patients who underwent penis enlargement with either their HA-injection technique or lipofilling between December 2007 and July 2011. Safety, efficacy, and patient satisfaction were assessed.

RESULTS:

The circumferential enlargement obtained from both techniques ranged from 3.2 to 4.5 cm, with a decrement during erection. In all patients, the increase in penis length ranged from 1.8 to 3.6 cm.

No complications were seen in patients treated with HA [Hyaluronic Acid], whereas 8 patients treated with lipofilling [fat grafting, fat injection] developed granuloma, and another experienced fat necrosis.

The vast majority (n = 72) of patients reported being “very satisfied” with the results.

CONCLUSIONS:

The ideal technique for penis enlargement should be nonsurgical, with a satisfactory and predictable result, a low rate of complications, and long-term stability. Emicircumferential enlargement with HA [Hyaluronic Acid] filler meets these requirements. However, results have been durable but not definitive, and repeated treatment (with associated costs) is necessary.

The most common technique involves cutting the ligament that attaches the penis to the pubic bone and performing a skin graft at the base of the penis to allow for the extra length. Professor Wylie says the surgery can result in an average gain in length to the flaccid penis of 2cm, but there will be no change to the size of the erect penis.

Furthermore, the erect penis won’t point as high as before the operation because the ligament which was cut no longer offers support.

“A lot of men who have this treatment don’t truly appreciate this loss of angle,” says Professor Wylie. “It can make sex quite uncomfortable. You’ve got to do a lot more manoeuvring with your partner. The advantage of a 2cm gain in flaccid length is far outweighed by the loss of angle of erection.”  UK NHS 2015

“Some surgical techniques to increase penis girth involve injecting fat taken from another part of the body into the penis. Some studies have reported increases in circumference of 1.4-4cm.

However, studies that followed men up over a longer time suggest disappointing results, with complications including disfigurement, scarring, lumpiness and infection. Another method, still in its experimental stage, involves pulling back the skin of the penis to wrap a tube-like biodegradable frame filled with tissue cells around the shaft.

Surgery to increase penis length

Fat transfer or lipofilling to the penis.

It may sound like a good idea to make the penis “fatter” by using fat.

However, the penis is not made of fat, to begin with, and is not designed to store fat.

Recent advances in fat injection techniques and filtration methods have improved the survival rate of fat transplanted to the penis.

However, reliably and predictably of the result remains somewhat variable.

The likelihood is that even with the most advanced approaches, you will require further top up procedures (additional surgery).

Hyaluronic acid injection is a tried and tested technique to add volume, using a filler, such as VOLUMA.

Hyaluronic acid is widely used in aesthetic medical circles traditionally as a filler for the lips and face. The main attraction of this treatment is there is no surgery involved, and the treatment takes just minutes. There is also no general anaesthetic required, and there is no downtime, unlike surgery.

The penis is instantly thicker without waiting for results. By using an HA-based filler, patients have the advantage of instant thickening on an out-patient basis.

The results of the VOLUMA thickening treatment typically lasts between 12 and 24 months, with less filler needed on repeat treatments.

You can have repeat treatments for more girth whenever you want, with the knowledge that there is no downtime involved and with instant results.

Unlike fat grafting or fat injections, the filler we use (hyaluronic acid) naturally breaks down over time and can be dissolved quickly in the unlikely event there is any problem, through the use of Hyaluronidase (see video below).

Repeat visits are required, every 1 to 2 years depending on the type of filler used (Ultra vs Voluma), to maintain the penis girth. As some residual filler will remain after 1 – 2 years, the amount of filler required (and cost) is less on subsequent visits.  A typical cost would be just over £1,000 for 3 syringes of filler.

The Androfill HA filler approach involves less risk to the penis, and significantly less downtime than traditional fat transfer methods. Permanent results can mean permanent problems. It may be better to opt for a less invasive, non-permanent and reversible procedure, than accept the risk of permanent penis deformity.

PMMA or liquid silicone injections to the penis are not a good idea.

PMMA is a plastic, a polymer derived from oil.

Do you really want a plastic in your penis, permanently?

If something goes wrong, the PMMA is impossible to get out.

Some men travel to have PMMA injected into their penis in Tijuana, Mexico or Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where there is no regulation against its use. We advise strongly against this.
